parthenon!!
11/17/2025
last weekend (11/14-11/16) i went to hack club's parthenon hackathon in new york city!
while i was there, i made a project called bullet tin board, which you can check out on my projects page.
the game is set in 1981, in a proto-internet dial-up powered network called a bulletin board system (BBS).
anyways, let's talk about parthenon, how it was, who i met there, and what i did!
what is parthenon?
first off, parthenon is a one-time all-girls hackathon (coding and engineering competition) that takes place in nyc!
it's part of the athena program, a gender minority program founded by hack club.
in case you don't know, hack club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that funds hackathons and game jams around the world.
they're pretty awesome!!
back to parthenon, though.
to go there, i had to complete the athena award, which is an MIT-recognized award given out by hack club to anyone that completes 3 projects and codes for 30 hours.
however, only the first 200 people to win the athena award would be invited to parthenon. luckily, i was one!
how was it?
it was pretty awesome! even though i didn't win, i had an amazing time and met some very cool people.
speaking of that, who did you meet?
i met a pretty neat couple people there, one named alex and one named selina.
i'm very grateful i met them.
in a few months, i may be organizing a game jam in portland, oregon (our home town) with alex!!
so what did you do?
on the first day, we met up at the venue where it was being held, then took the subway to duolingo hq at the wtc!
then, we went back to the venue, found our teams (for me, it was me, selina, and alex), and started coding!
that night, i pulled an all-nighter (obviously), and coded most of the framework for our game.
the next day, we woke up very early in the morning and demo'd our projects.
overall, it was amazing!!!!
